Adding Glam: Glitter, Gold & Gems
Leopard print already has personality, but adding some sparkle takes it to the next level! Several images incorporate gold flakes ☍ scattered within the leopard pattern, creating a luxurious, almost gilded effect. Others use fine glitter polish as a base layer under the spots or trace lines with glitter liner. And who can resist a few strategically placed rhinestones ☍ ? Adding gems along the cuticle line or as an accent adds instant glamour.
- Incorporating Sparkle:
- Gold Flakes: After painting your base color and letting it get slightly tacky (or apply a thin layer of top coat or nail glue), gently press small gold flakes onto the nail using tweezers or a damp brush before adding the leopard spots over them. Seal well with top coat.
- Glitter Base: Simply use a fine glitter nail polish ☍ (silver or gold look great) as your base coat before adding the spots.
- Rhinestones: Once your polish and top coat are completely dry, apply tiny dots of nail glue ☍ where you want the gems. Use a wax pencil or damp toothpick to pick up and place the rhinestones. Press gently. I sometimes add another thin layer of top coat around the base of the gems (not over the top, which can dull their sparkle) for extra security.
